"Planter" Fascitis and the Brooklyn Half

A fellow runner sent me the following photo of the massive planters draped across the transverse road (right around the half mile point of the current Brooklyn Half route). They're being used to block traffic until the bridge gets repaired.

Something's gotta give - either the planters will be need to be moved before the race, or, dare we say it, a slight course adjustment. No way you put 10,000 runners through this.

I ran past these yesterday and wondered what they'll be doing about the situation too. I don't remember running through them during the Al Gordon Snowflake 5K, so maybe they moved them off the course. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

I also sent that photo and more to Mary at the NYRRC. I am sure there will be a solution by next week.

Maybe I was suffering from heat-related dementia, but I don't recall seeing those planters when I ran across that road on the afternoon of Monday 5/25.

As of 1PM on Thursday the planters are still there. But Management at the NYRRC said they are on it. I am much more concerned abut the first two turns.
