This better be a mistake, but I'm looking at the May calendar for New York Runners and the Brooklyn Half NO LONGER APPEARS.
Instead, the Japan Day Run is listed on May 31 - which makes me think that, in fact, the Brooklyn Half is being rescheduled. I've also flipped through the remaining months - no Brooklyn Half.
(I truly want to believe I'm wrong, and this is simply a typo. I'd be more inclined to believe this if last year's calendar mess hadn't happened.)
Anyone have any ideas?

There is absolutely no way they'll get rid of this race, especially with the 5 borough grand prix. Relax, it'll be posted again soon.
It's not so much that I think NYRR will pull the race entirely, it's more that I think that it's going to be moved, causing a shift in plans (for better or worse). For example, it could move to March, which might derail some folk who have been building up their mileage slowly (but benefit those who want a half marathon before the spring marathon season). We'll see.
Now, "hate" is a strong word, but here's an example of why I hate NYRR and their habits of changing schedules without regard for the disruption of runners' plans. Realizing that I couldn't do the Grand Prix this year, in that I have to go to a Bat Mitzvah on 5/30/09, I skipped the Manhattan Half even though I was registered for it. There is no other Saturday this year for which I'm so solidly booked in the morning, so I WILL be able to do it. If it occurs.
Rumor has it that they may switch the start to Prospect Park and have the finish on Coney Island.
I asked about the Brooklyn Half today when I was at the NYRRC Palace. They said it was a good question. Really, that is how they answered me when I asked about the Brooklyn Half. They said they were waiting to here from the Mayor's Office

The folks who handle race registration at the NYRR (no "C") Palace always claim to have no knowledge about the big questions (Why did they eliminate permanent numbers? Why did I shlep all the way up here for my number for a run (last summer's Summer Streets) which has no numbers? Since this is an outdoor event why isn't number pickup in the park and not a mile from the start?). For that you'd have to gain access to the Throne Room. And then they'd probably have to kill you.
