Haiti Relief Run Possible

At yesterday's Manhattan Half (results here), NYRR's Mary Wittenberg said that a relief run to raise funds for Haiti will tentatively take place on Saturday, Feb. 20, in Central Park. Exact details are being worked out, she said..

** UPDATE: Earlier, I incorrectly assumed it would be an NYRR run, which a commenter has told me it won't necessarily be. So, I'll wait for further details

Hi! I am part of the group planning a Haiti Relief run for Feb 20, 2010. The date will be confirmed after this weeks meeting with the Prospect Park Alliance. However, I would have to point out that it is NOT a NYRR sponsored event.
I will definately forward all details after confirmation, and I'm glad that so many runners have already been asking!!

Hi, I've updated the post. Please do send along information on the run. Also, will there be something in Prospect Park as well? Thanks.

Ahhh...unfortunately it seems as if there is going to be a conflict. Planning had been made for FEB 20 in Prospect Park because there weren't any other races that day (for NYRR, PPTC, ect). Sadly, after much plans have been made, now it appears there WILL be a race in Central Park! Waiting for confirmation from NYRR...will update after i get it.
Sorry about that! It's hard to plan around a race that hadn't yet been planned....

From NYRR website:

Save the Date: Run/Walk for Haiti on Feb. 20

A 4-mile run and walk to benefit Haiti, co-sponsored by NYRR and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, is coming to Central Park on February 20. All entry fees collected by NYRR will go directly to New York City’s Haiti Relief Fund, administered by the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, which is directing 100% of donations to reputable organizations providing relief in Haiti. Stay tuned.
