New Year's Eve/Day Races

At least three in the area that you want to keep your eye on:

The New Year's Eve Fun Run (11:15 p.m. in Prospect Park)

The Midnight Run in Central Park

Harry's Handicap at 10 a.m. New Year's Day in Prospect Park (mostly a Prospect Park Track Club event, but guests welcome). The quirky thing about this one - you get a head start based on your previous times (the goal for organizers is to have all races arrive at the finish line at the same time, which never happens)

Early forecast: High 20s for that evening ...

Do you know how long Harry's Handicap is? I can't find anything about the length except "one loop of Prospect Park," but I'm not sure how long that is, having never run in Brooklyn except for the NYRR Half. A quick Google shows that there are a few different loops - do they mean the 3.2 mile one?

The race is 3.35 miles, that is a loop of Prospect Park. But it is not a public event. If you show up, just say you are a friend of ChickenUnderwear, that will get you in

I'd describe it more as a "family and friends" event. The other poster is correct: it's one loop of the park. It's free for members, $5 for non-members, but it's also an opportunity to meet people in PPTC. It's a fun run - very low key.
