Just shy of 5000 runners made it to Central Park last night for the annual New Year's Eve run. Prospect Park drew its share of the running community as part of the race sponsored by Slope Sports and Brooklyn Road Runners. And the Prospect Park Track Club attracted more than two dozen runners as part of the annual Harry's Handicap race (for the second year in a row, in the rain).
A good way to start off 2008. Long run on Saturday anyone?

While OTBKB's "more than 200" is consistent with your 5000 runners, I'm curious to know how many registrants there really were.
The NYRR Web site says there were 4,967 entrants. Did they all finish? Ehh, probably not, though I'd imagine a good number did. I'll link the stat on the original blog post.
The one in Prospect Park - I'm guessing around 100-200, though that's based on expectations, not on anything concrete. If I hear anything different from Slope Sports, I'll add it.
Just looked at the Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn post -- they're talking about the Prospect Park run. Sorry for any confusion in my initial post.
I'm the one who was confused, but I loved the image of the 5,000 runners in "our" park.
