A blog devoted to all things related to running in Brooklyn. It's designed to provide information and help us all get better while we learn about the people we pass while running in Prospect Park, over the Brooklyn Bridge or down to Coney Island. The Chicago Heat - Will There Be Ramifications?
The comments on some of the blogs and some of the stories about today's Chicago Marathon that I've seen make me think that there could be some major changes in how marathons are handled if there are heat problems. Already one death has been reported, and it's possible there will be more. The comments on this blog are mixed, but one gets the idea that a) if running officials hadn't canceled the race, it could have been a lot worse and b) if New York faces a similar situation, they'll be a lot quicker in pulling the plug. Note the number of races that NYRR has made "fun runs" because of weather conditions; one wonders what would happen if it's the New York Marathon?
