Using GPS for Course Measurement
Great article here detailing the details behind measuring courses, and the issues with GPS devices on accuracy
THANK YOU. As a Race Director I am going to save that article and use it as a reply when I am told my course was off.
I have also run a loop of Prospect Park with someone with a very fancy GPS device and when we finished (in the same spot we started) Her watch told us we changed altitude.
